Invitation for Commuity Meeting from Core - agrihood project

Hello agrihood supporters-

I’m excited and supportive of The Core Companies’ efforts to create the first agrihood in the area! Many of you know I have been advocating for an extraordinary development on the BAREC site for several years. And thanks to the tireless efforts of Senator Wieckowski and Santa Clara City staff, the State’s January 2017 timeline has been removed, meaning the time pressure is off!

Santa Clara has identified this asset for community benefit (not profit) and I continue to be concerned about the need for a deeper visioning process. And now that there is time, we can all reimagine this space! Our community, local experts, and the City can help Core develop something truly special far beyond the initial ideas, like way outside the box!

A visioning process will bring the City, the community, experts, and Core together to explore and define how Santa Clara can be leaders in sustainability, progressive housing designs, land use, and transportation solutions - something not being done today.

I’m looking forward to an integrated agrihood that embraces the future needs of our evolving area.

See below for details.

Thanks,
Kirk Vartan

EMAIL FROM THE CORE COMPANIES:

Last fall, in a series of meetings, The Core Companies began working with neighbors and community stakeholders to solicit your comments, questions and ideas. Your input is helping to shape the ground-breaking development on the former BAREC land at 90 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. As you know, this unique urban sustainable community will incorporate senior housing with deep levels of affordability, affordable veterans' housing, and other types of affordable and market-rate apartments and homes all surrounding a working agricultural open space.

We heard you. Over the last several months, The Core Companies has coordinated with the City of Santa Clara to incorporate your suggestions, and we are making exciting progress. But our work is not yet done.

We want your feedback. You are invited once again to view the latest plans and share your impressions as we move forward in creating this legacy project linking our agricultural past with a modern, urban future.

For your convenience, two meeting dates are available:

Saturday, July 16th, 1-3 p.m.
or Tuesday, July 26th, 6-8:00 p.m.
St. Mark's Parish Hall
1957 Pruneridge Ave., Santa Clara, CA 95050
